India is the highest engineers producing country. India produces more engineers than combined china and USA. But the jobs for engineers are not available in the same amount. This never means that you should remain unemployed till getting a technical job. There are many opportunities available for engineers than that of technical field. Here we are going to share such opportunities you can grab after engineering.

  • Core sector (Technical)-

It is the basic and primary option to work in the field in which you are graduated; it may be Mechanical, Civil, IT, Computer science, Electrical or any other. You can find a job in any of the core sector.

  • Administrative Job (Non technical)-

Many of the organizations hire engineers for non technical or administrative jobs. These types of jobs include management related tasks like marketing, business development, public relations, data management and etc. 

  • Government organization- 

Engineers have great opportunity to join government organizations like

  • Power sector- includes government thermal, hydro power plants.

  • Production sector- many government run or aided organizations.

  • Research sector- includes DRDO, ISRO, BARC, etc.

  • Defense sector- Indian armed forces (Army, Navy, Air force) hire technical persons.

  • Railways- railways recruits every year.

  • Administrative services- services like IAS and IES.

  • Marine sector- includes Shipping corporation of India and many other PSU’s

There are many private industries in India hiring for both technical and non technical posts. About GATE examination

GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering so if you Qualify GATE, you will have chance to join for job in PSU or go for higher education i.e. M.TECH at IIT or NIT. This exam held every year in the first week of February. There are two types of questions are asked in GATE - multiple choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. The GATE Online Processing System (GOAPS) website will open on first week of September, for candidates to enroll, fill, and submit their applications. While rest ISRO, BARC, BIS take their separate test. ISRO rolled out their Notification in the first week of March every year while the exam held in May. The pattern is similar to GATE consisting of MCQ type Questions.
